LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spirit Airlines recently announced new, nonstop service to Atlanta, Dallas and Newark in the New York City-area from the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF). These cities are the Top 3 markets for inbound passengers to SDF, making it even easier for travelers to reach Louisville and all the region has to offer with the new seasonal flights set to begin in early May.

“This is a great start to 2025 with multiple announcements for new, nonstop service from Spirit at SDF in a matter of weeks,” said Dan Mann, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. “These additional routes, which add more flights to three of our overall Top 10 markets, are another example of the positive momentum, on-going air service growth and successes happening at SDF. We appreciate Spirit’s partnership and continued support of our market with this announcement for more new flights for the region’s travelers.”

The new, nonstop flights to Newark increase service to New York City, SDF’s second largest overall market with more than 700 passengers a day flying between the two cities. Dallas is the third largest overall market with more than 410 daily passengers, followed by Atlanta as the sixth largest market with nearly 400 total passengers a day.

“Bourbon City is a lively destination full of adventure, and we’re excited to help more travelers discover its rich history, unique attractions and renowned culinary scene with our new nonstop service,” said John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines. “We’d like to thank our partners at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport for their continued support as we introduce new flights between Louisville and Atlanta (ATL), Dallas (DFW) and Newark (EWR) starting this May.”

Each nonstop flight will be offered twice-weekly with service to Newark (EWR) starting on Thursday, May 1 and service to Dallas (DFW) beginning Thursday, May 8, both operating on Thursdays and Sundays. Friday, May 9 will see the start of service to Atlanta (ATL) on Mondays and Fridays. All flights will be on a mixture of Airbus A320 or A321 aircraft, each seating between 182 and 228 passengers.

In a few short weeks, SDF will celebrate the beginning of Spirit’s new, nonstop service to Myrtle Beach (MYR) and relaunch of service to Tampa (TPA) on Friday, March 21. In addition to the five new routes – Atlanta, Dallas, Myrtle Beach, Newark and Tampa – Spirit offers nonstop service to eight total destinations at SDF that also include Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Los Angeles (LAX) and Orlando (MCO).

“This introduces low-fare flights to multiple key markets for travelers at SDF,” added Anthony Gilmer, Vice President of Air Service Development and Strategic Marketing for the Airport Authority. “Spirit has announced five new destinations for SDF in less than two months, which follows our best year yet for passenger traffic as well as four of our Top 5 busiest years to date. These new flights will support the ongoing growth of leisure travel between these markets and Louisville, making it even easier for visitors and residents to connect and explore.”
