The Paris Junior College softball team is giving high school athletes the chance to showcase their skills in their backyard. The Lady Dragons and head coach Shelby Shelton will be hosting a prospect showcase event at Lady Dragon Field. The dates for this event are July 15 and August 24. The showcase event is open to all softball players who are entering ninth grade this fall, including college transfers. Those who attend will get the chance to show their skills in a simulated practice environment, similar to those that are run during the season by the PJC Softball staff.
Pitchers and catchers who are interested in attending the event will be on the field from 10:30 am until 11:30 am. Offense and defense skills will be run from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on both dates of the showcase.

Marcus Semien went 4-for-5 and Corey Seager hit a two-run single in a seven-run third inning to help the Texas Rangers rout the Los Angeles Angels 11-4 on Thursday night for a split of their four-game series. Patrick Corbin allowed two runs and seven hits with six strikeouts in five innings to win his second consecutive start, while Jacob Latz allowed a run over 3 1/3 innings of relief with six strikeouts.

All the attention was on the Mavs No. 1 Pick Cooper Flagg, who had an uneven performance finishing with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block, on 5-of-21 from the floor, 0-of-5 from 3-point range, however it was an undrafted free agent rookie who stole the show for Dallas as Point Guard Ryan Nebhard went 8-14 from the field to finish with 21 points and five assists as the Mavericks topped the Lakers 87-85
NHL
The Stars traded Matt Dumba to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a swap of defensemen Thursday, with Dallas getting Vladislav Kolyachonok and a 2028 second-round pick. Dumba never had an impact after signing a $7.5 million, two-year contract in free agency last year. He was a healthy scratch for all 18 playoff games as the Stars lost in the Western Conference final for the third consecutive year.
