Higher education is a cause that is dear to my heart. For each of the past three years, the Hispanic Education Foundation of Longmont has awarded 15 scholarships to students in the St. Vrain Valley School District. To qualify for a scholarship, the student must attend the St. Vrain Valley School District and be accepted to attend an accredited college or university or vocational school.
Although this year’s scholarship application deadline has been reached, the need for sponsors is paramount. On June 12, the Foundation is holding its annual golf tournament at the Ute Creek Golf Club located at 2000 Ute Creek Drive in Longmont, phone 303-774-4342.
The Hispanic Education Foundation (HEF) of Longmont is a nonprofit organization that was established in January 1989 by a group of community citizens who desired to raise money for scholarships to enable those in the Hispanic community to achieve their goal of being the first in their families to attend college. From its beginning, HEF has focused on aiding graduating high school seniors by providing financial support through the scholarship program. In its first year, the group only raised $500, which was the first scholarship they awarded. Since then, the HEF has grown and is able to award scholarships to deserving students by having an annual golf tournament each year.
Sponsorship levels range from Event Day$225; Event Adult Beverage:$450; Lunch $1,000; Gold Level:$2,500; Silver Level$1,000; and Diamond Level:$5,500

Overall, the Hispanic Education Foundation has grown from a small local effort to become an important community organization that provides financial help for many students. High school graduates from St. Vrain Valley School District are able to receive up to $2,500 spread out over four years. This support aids students in paying for higher education once they graduate from high school.
Won’t you please help me cheer on this important cause for our students? All proceeds of the tournament fund the Hispanic Education Foundation Scholarship Program for St. Vrain Valley School District students. Your interest in participating in this year’s Hispanic Scholarship/Sponsorship Program is very much appreciated.
