ADDISON, Ill. (WLS) — A judge ordered the owner of a west suburban ice cream shop held in custody ahead of his child pornography and unauthorized recording trial on Sunday.

Steven Weisberg, a 58-year-old Buffalo Grove man, is accused of secretly recording women and girls with a hidden camera at his Addison ice cream shop.

Prosecutors say in early August, Addison police received an anonymous complaint about an apparent fake wall electrical outlet in the Flavor Frenzy restroom at 48 West Lake Street.

An undercover Addison police officer went to Flavor Frenzy and saw what appeared to be an outlet with a small black lens in one of the receptacles, positioned to capture portions of the restroom, including a urinal.

Officers used a search warrant to remove the phony outlet, which contained a camera.

Investigators believe Weisberg installed the camera a few years earlier, and he was able to access and save video footage from the camera on his laptop and cellphone.

Prosecutors say authorities found 11 videos of six people, including three female Flavor Frenzy employees, in the “deleted” folder on Weisberg’s phone.

In one of those alleged videos, a 16-year-old employee tried on different Flavor Frenzy t-shirts, exposing her breasts to the camera. Weisberg allegedly asked the girl to try on and model different t-shirts for the business, prosecutors said.

Detectives allegedly found two other videos of female employees, including a minor, who officials have yet to identify. Those alleged videos show the workers undressing and exposing their buttocks and sex organs.

Since Weisberg’s arrest on Friday afternoon, four more teenage girls who worked at the ice cream shop told police that he asked them to model t-shirts. He allegedly told them to remove their bras for photos so that there would be no bra outline in the photos.

Weisberg is due in court again on Sept.15.

Addison police said Flavor Frenzy remains closed and its business license was voluntarily surrendered.

Addison police asked anyone with information to call them at 630-543-3080.
