Karen Weekly on Tennessee softball’s pitching growth, returning to WCWS
Tennessee softball coach Karen Weekly talked about the pitching staff’s growth and returning to the Women’s College World Series.
It’s win or go home for six teams on Sunday, May 24, looking to reach the Women’s College World Series.
No. 6 Florida and No. 11 Texas Tech (Gainesville Super Regional), No. 3 Oklahoma and unseeded Mississippi State (Norman) and No. 2 Texas and unseeded Arizona State (Austin) will all face off in a deciding Game 3 in their respective super regionals. The winners will head to Oklahoma City, with the losers’ seasons ending.

The Red Raiders, who reloaded through the transfer portal last offseason after finishing as the national championship runner-up to Texas, hit a go-ahead home run to win Game 1 10-8 before dropping Game 2 10-2.
The Sooners, meanwhile, defeated the Bulldogs 7-1 in Game 2 after blowing a 6-2 lead in the final two innings of Game 1. Oklahoma, who won four straight national titles from 2021-24, hasn’t missed the WCWS since 2015. Mississippi State, meanwhile, entered the season having never won a Super Regional game.
Defending national champion Texas also forced the rubber match with a 4-3 win over Arizona State late on May 24 with a go-ahead, two-run home run from Victoria Hunter in the top of the sixth. The Longhorns kept the Sun Devils from plating any more runs to eke out the win and force the decisive Game 3.
