Syracuse, N.Y. — Former Syracuse safety Jaeden Gould has signed with Central Florida, the school said Thursday.

Gould’s decision to enroll at Central Florida comes three weeks after rehiring Scott Frost as its next head coach.

Gould, a North Jersey native, entered his name in the transfer portal on Dec. 11 and subsequently said Temple and Marshall offered him a roster spot.

He played in 21 games for the Orange over two seasons, recording 30 tackles and one interception.

At Central Florida, Gould will play under Frost and defensive run-game coordinator/edge rushers coach Mike Dawson, who recruited Gould at Nebraska out of high school.

Dawson was a college roommate of Gould’s high coach coach at Bergen Catholic, Vito Campanile, the brother of Syracuse assistant coach Nunzio Campanile.

Gould played two seasons at Syracuse after redshirting as a freshman at Nebraska in 2022. He can play two seasons at UCF.

Regarded as one of the top recruits in New Jersey coming out of high school, Gould initially intended to sign with Southern Cal in the 2022 class before choosing Nebraska in the wake of a coaching change at USC.

Gould transferred out of Nebraska after Frost was fired early in the 2022 season.

Frost previously coached Central Florida from 2016-17, where he went 19-7 and beat Auburn in the Peach Bowl to cap a 13-0 season. The Knights were omitted from the four-team College Football Playoff that year, leading the school to proclaim themselves national champions.

Frost left after the season for Nebraska, his alma mater, and went 16-31 before being fired three games into his fifth season in 2022. He spent the past season as a senior analyst for the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL.
