TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Temperature technology manufacturer Danfoss unveiled a $62 million facility expansion in Florida’s capital city on Wednesday.

The news comes nearly four years after talks of the upgrade first surfaced. The massive factory in Innovation Park spans 145,000 square and is mostly automated, according to company leadership. The products created there will be used in cooling and heating systems, which is an area of expertise for Danfoss, according to CEO Kim Fausing.

The newly renovated center is also expected to bring more jobs to Tallahassee, Danfoss officials said. Tallahassee and Capital County leaders have long-anticipated the expansion with hopes it will boost the region’s economy by bringing in more jobs and supporting local businesses.

Tallahassee entrepreneur Jochen Hornung said Danfoss supplies are essential to his pump company. The business creates sustainable and eco-friendly heat and chilling pumps, Hornung said, and they source over 80% of their compressors from Danfoss.

So having a bigger production facility so close to home is a game-changer, Hornung said.
