The governor signed bills meant to reduce barriers for small businesses and entrepreneurs statewide.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Gov. Greg Abbott was in Fort Worth on Tuesday to sign several bills he says will deliver on even more pro-business policies in Texas.

Abbott said House Bill 346 will help small business owners speed up fillings with the Secretary of State’s Office.

He also signed House Bill 2464, which prevents cities from imposing regulations on qualified home businesses.

A third bill Abbott signed, House Bill 5195, will require all state agencies to improve their websites and make them easier to use.

Abbott applauded lawmakers’ work on these bills.

“A big thanks to all the senators and representatives in the Texas Senate and House for prioritizing ordinary Texans this session and for your efforts to ensure that Texas will continue to move at the speed of business,” Abbott said.

The governor said other bills that passed this session will incentivize growth in Texas. He named increasing power grid capacity, water infrastructure improvements, career training programs and school choice legislation.

At the signing on Tuesday, Abbott also announced Fort Worth now has more than 1 million residents, surpassing Austin for the very first time as Texas’ fastest-growing major city.

He used the moment to designate Fort Worth as the state’s aviation and defense capital.

“Now therefore, be it resolved that the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby designates Fort Worth as the official aviation and defense capital of the great state of Texas,” Abbott said.
