Today is Nov. 4, 2024. And on this date in Texas history, the UT soccer team exited the Big 12 with a championship.
Playing BYU in the 2023 Big 12 championship game, Texas recorded a 3-1 win behind two goals from Lexi Missimo and Mia Justus’ six saves. Missimo was named the tournament’s most outstanding offensive player, and she joined Justus and Texas teammates Lauren Lapomarda, Trinity Byars and Holly Ward on the all-tournament team.
The victory secured Texas its first Big 12 tournament title since 2007.
That beating of BYU was UT’s Big 12 finale. The Longhorns joined the SEC this soccer season and will be the No. 3 seed in that conference’s tournament this week.
