From March 27th to April 6th the second edition of the Charlotte Latino Film Festival (CLFF), which will feature 10 award-winning films from at least eight Latin American countries, as well as local short films.
The film event is presented by Casual Cinema, a media arts organization founded in 2016, which had held three previous film events of Cinema Casual Film Series.
Diverse voices and a bridge between cultures
This year the festival will bring an exciting lineup of Latin American films that will be presented at the Independent Picture House, Located at 4237 Raleigh St, Charlotte, NC 28213.
“The Charlotte Latino Film Festival is more than just a celebration of cinema; it’s a platform for diverse voices and a bridge between cultures,” said Giovanna Torres, co-founder of CLFF.
“We’re thrilled to bring such innovative films and talent to Charlotte, making this year’s festival truly special,” Torres added.
Firsts and premieres
This year’s festival features several firsts, including premieres from various parts of the continent, including the first Colombian musical feature film, “Ruben’s Bolero”, which will be presented on the closing night by Majida Issa, Colombian actress and singer who became known for her role as Lto Devil in the series Without breasts there is paradise.
Among the highlights of this year’s festival are the fact that more than half of the films presented this year are directed by women, and the screening of a family film with a post-screening activity. There will also be a free workshop designed for and by local storytellers.

Premiere with Dominican film
The festival kicks off on Thursday, March 27 at 6:00 p.m. with an opening reception where guests will enjoy Dominican flavors, followed by the premiere of Quarencena (Quarandinner), a bold and darkly comic film from the Dominican Republic.
The full lineup includes films from Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela, as well as a selection of short films made in North Carolina by or starring Latinx talent. Several screenings will include interviews with Charlotte-based artists and community leaders.
