ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The 2024 NHL draft concluded on Saturday, marking another successful draft class for the Chicago Blackhawks, as they continue to rebuild for the future of their franchise. Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson has been on a tear since he took on the role three years ago, securing a total of eight first round draft picks. That is the most in a three year span since the Canadiens 10 first round picks from 1974 to 1976.
Levshunov, the former Big Ten defensive player of the year adds much needed right shot depth to the team and is a top-pairing defenseman.
However, it is likely that several of the Blackhawks eight draft picks will make their way back to their respective junior clubs or colleges before they see any NHL playing time. Patience is the main priority with a rebuild like Chicago’s, but with G.M. Kyle Davidson, the future remains bright.
NHL free agency opens Monday, July 1st at noon and fans expect the organization to go after some big names.
