Jorge Gonzalez was appointed as the new executive director of The Idea Center on June 16.
His duties include securing partnerships, raising funds and providing opportunities for students and small businesses in Miami.
“I learned at The Idea Center, I taught at The Idea Center, so being here now is full circle in my MDC journey, and I’m excited to build on the success,” Gonzalez said. “It’s really an honor to step into this role and keep growing.”
The 36-year-old’s professional journey at the College began in 2016 when he served as an instructor for MarketHack, a comprehensive professional training program in digital marketing at The Idea Center.
From 2018 through 2021, he was a data analyst for The Children’s Trust—a government-funded social services program for kids—where he optimized business processes and strategized innovative solutions.
Next, he worked for two years as the digital access director at The Miami Foundation, designing and managing the long-term sustainability of the organization.
For the last two years, he served as director of the Business Innovation & Technology Center at Wolfson Campus.
Gonzalez is a graduate of the Honors College at Kendall Campus, receiving an associate of arts in business administration in 2009. In 2011, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fordham University. Two years later, he received a master’s degree in business administration from the Fordham’s Gabelli School of Business.
