Originally reported just a few weeks ago, on Tuesday morning, it finally happened.
“After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change.
“As a result, today is your last working day.”
According to a report by Business Insider, thousands of Oracle employees woke up to this email on Tuesday morning as the company seeks to cut costs and is apparently embarking on a “broader organizational change.”

The anticipated Oracle job cuts were first announced in early March and have been preceded by Amazon and Meta mass layoffs in the tech industry.
According to the New York Post, as of May 2025, the Bay Area tech company employed around 162,000 full-time employees. Reports estimate 30,000 total layoffs out of that pool.
Reaction
One X user called it the biggest single tech layoff in the last 12 months. Another expressed gratitude for her time at Oracle, writing, “Today, I was impacted by Oracle’s layoffs. It’s a strange feeling, but I’m incredibly proud of what I was able to build over the past 4 years.”
India was hit the hardest, with 12,000 people laid off out of roughly 30,000 total Oracle employees in the country, according to Business Standard.
Ana-Maria Stanciuc of The Next Web says, “The financial logic behind the cuts is not hard to follow. Oracle has committed to an aggressive AI infrastructure buildout that requires an estimated $156 billion in capital spending.”
