Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum shares all the emotions he went through in the moments after he tore his Achilles tendon in the NBA playoffs.
- The 76ers, Timberwolves, and Grizzlies will wear throwback uniforms for the 2025-26 NBA season.
- Each team will also feature a corresponding throwback court design for select games.
Fans of NBA throwback heat – and kids of the late 1990s and early 2000s – have a lot to celebrate: A trio of teams are leading the throwback uniform revolution.
The Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies revealed throwback alternate jerseys Wednesday, Sept. 24 that each team will use throughout the 2025-26 season.
Each team also unveiled court designs that correspond to the era of the throwback uniforms.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of the 2000-01 team that reached the NBA Finals, the 76ers are bringing back their iconic black jerseys popularized by former 76ers legend Allen Iverson. The team used the all-black uniforms from 1997-2009.
Philadelphia will wear the uniforms 15 times, starting with its home game against the Raptors on Saturday, Nov. 8.
“Some of my favorite memories came when I was wearing this uniform,” former 76ers guard Eric Snow said Wednesday in a statement. “I enjoyed every moment of playing for my childhood team. This uniform represented the connection of players with the city and 76ers fans. Although we didn’t accomplish our ultimate goal, I’m still thankful for the time I played in the 76ers uniform. Even now, I still meet people wherever I go who speak about the passion they had for our team and that run.”
The Timberwolves uniforms, what they’re calling their “Black Trees” classic edition are versions that became popular during the era of former great Kevin Garnett and star Stephon Marbury.
All black with rows of green trees along the trim, the uniforms were worn from 1998-2008.
The Timberwolves will debut the uniforms and court design on Sunday, Oct. 26, their home opener against the Indiana Pacers. The team will wear the uniforms 28 times this season.
“Our Black Trees uniforms pay tribute to one of the most defining eras in team and league history, while introducing a new generation of fans to the Timberwolves’ legacy,” Timberwolves CEO Matt Caldwell said Wednesday in a statement. “These iconic uniforms hold a special place in our community, and bringing them back reflects our commitment to listening to fans and celebrating the moments they value most.”
The Grizzlies throwbacks are also a 25th anniversary nod, one that dates back to the franchise’s inaugural season in Memphis.
Also all-black uniforms, the Memphis throwbacks include the city’s name across the chest, which was unconventional for NBA teams, most of which had the team nickname in that spot. The uniform also features a secondary team logo from the franchise’s inaugural season in Vancouver, called the G-Swipe.
The Grizzlies will debut the uniforms and court design for their season opener, Wednesday, Oct. 22, against the New Orleans Pelicans.
