Let’s be honest, this is why you play. And perhaps even larger than that, this is why you watch college football.
It doesn’t matter what team you root for or why you root for them. The reasons you love a program—whether it’s in your blood, you love the mascot, you love the coach or the stadium is a few miles away—are your own.
If you have a team, whether it won a national championship last year or failed to make a bowl, this will be the team you choose. And it should be.
For all of its flaws and imperfections, college football is a deeply loyal enterprise. And the fact that this game exists, in its rebuilt, pixelated form, allows for that fandom to carry forward in truly meaningful ways.
There’s no need to change course now. Start a dynasty with the team you love and don’t look back.
