TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) –Topeka High School was popular Wednesday, evening for a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

The Topeka High drumline was there to help pump up the crowd.

Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15th to October 15th this year to commemorate many Latin American countries and the Hispanic global population.

“I think that many people have the chance to travel across the world or get to taste different foods or just different music from different places. So, this night is supposed to help students become more acquainted with those locations and also share their own cultures because we have students from all across the globe here at Topeka High,” says Nathon Hilton.

“So I feel like this is a good event for helping people who might not know about their culture learn more about it, or help others who aren’t a part of that culture learn more about other cultures. I think to know about other cultures is really important for understanding everything about the world,” says Sara Valera Lopez-Pintor.

A number of different booths featured information about various Latin countries in Central America and South America.
