A spokesperson for H-E-B, which also owns local grocers Central Market and Joe V’s, said the drink was being restocked in stores, albeit slowly and in limited quantities.
Other retailers also have the drink — often used as a mixer in ranch water — back in stock. Walmart stores in Spring and Sugar Land both celebrated the return of the mineral water on Facebook, and the beverage was listed as in stock at several Houston-area Krogers on Saturday afternoon.
Topo Chico, which is owned by the Coca-Cola Co., did not immediately respond to a request for comment. On Friday, a company spokesperson told CNN that the glass bottles of mineral water were undergoing a “phased return” to stores across Texas, and would be rolled out in other states planned for early 2027.
In February, Coca-Cola announced that Topo Chico’s mineral water would be unavailable for several months as the company made upgrades to the drink’s production facilities in Monterrey, Mexico. Coca-Cola told distributors the shortages stemmed from “quality issues” at the wells in Monterrey.
“As always, safety and quality are the company’s top priorities,” the company said in a statement to the Chronicle at the time. ”We aim to have Topo Chico Mineral Water back later this year.”
While the brand’s signature mineral water was unavailable, its canned cocktails and flavored sparkling waters remained available without interruptions over the past year.
