Shortly after being moved to safety, Trump took to Truth Social to praise the response of federal agents.
“Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended,” Trump said.
He also confirmed that the First Lady, the Vice President, and attending Cabinet members are all in “perfect condition.”
While the President recommended that organisers “LET THE SHOW GO ON,” he noted that the final decision remains with law enforcement.
“Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again,” he added.
The FBI and Secret Service continued their investigation into the suspect’s motives and how the armed individual reached the secure perimeter of the Washington Hilton.
