STORRS, CT – The UConn Division of Athletics announced its annual NCAA financial report for the fiscal year 2024-25, highlighting a $4.9 million increase in self-generated revenue.
For the third-consecutive year, UConn Athletics was able to self-generate nearly 60% of its own revenues. Fiscal year 2025 also saw 9,323 people donate to Athletics, the fifth straight year of membership growth and a 27% increase from the average of the prior three years. Total financial commitments totaled $51.2 million. The number of donors and the commitments both represent all-time highs. UConn has garnered $149.5 million in gifts over the last five fiscal years (FY21-FY25).
In addition, UConn Athletics continues to make a significant annual contribution to the state’s economy. The total economic output stemming from athletic department operations and events in FY25 is estimated to be more than $274.6 million. This impressive financial impact represents over a 750% return on direct institutional support.
Athletics’ self-generated revenues, combined with university support, has helped fuel outstanding academic and athletic achievements. Fiscal year 2025 was highlighted by: 77% of student-athletes earning a 3.0-or-better GPA during the spring term, including 85 student-athletes earning a 4.0, 142 student-athletes named New England Scholars, 36 student-athletes named Babbidge Scholars and a 91% Graduation Success Rate.
UConn Athletics’ dedication to enhancing facilities for student-athletes remains strong, with $11.2 million raised in capital gifts during fiscal year 2025. This milestone marks the 22nd consecutive year the department has secured more than $1 million in commitments toward capital projects, underscoring the sustained donor support for facility improvements and enhancements that benefit student-athletes across all sports programs. Fiscal year 2025 saw significant progress on multiple capital initiatives, including the completion of the UConn Volleyball Center upgrades in August 2024 and Wolff-Zackin Natatorium renovations in September 2025. The video boards, lighting, and graphics systems project in Gampel Pavilion that began in June 2024 was unveiled just five months later in November, marking the first completed project in the comprehensive renovation of UConn’s iconic on-campus basketball home. Since that time, an entirely new lower level seating structure has been installed in Gampel, including aisle handrails and selected sections with wider, padded seats. Additionally, tennis facility improvements launched in November 2024 are projected for completion in March 2026, further demonstrating UConn’s ongoing investment in world-class facilities for its student-athletes.
In competition, UConn captured a 12th women’s basketball national championship and 12 conference championships (11 BIG EAST regular season and conference championships / Hockey East regular season championship) as well as two BIG EAST individual championships (women’s cross country / men’s golf) and the 2024 Wasabi Fenway Bowl championship.
The UConn field hockey, women’s basketball, men’s ice hockey and women’s ice hockey programs finished their seasons ranked in the national polls while the Husky women’s programs as a whole finished eighth in the Capital One Cup final standings. Eleven UConn coaches or coaching staffs received conference or regional Coach of the Year honors.
