Two title fights headline UFC’s first Montreal show in 10 years

Check out the highlights from UFC 315 official weigh-ins, where 23 of the 24 fighters on the card made weight ahead of Saturday’s event in Montreal.
MONTREAL – MMA Junkie was on scene and reporting live from Friday’s UFC 315 fighter weigh-ins, where the title fighters hit their marks right out of the chute.
Welterweight champion Belal Muhammad (24-3 MMA, 15-3 UFC) and challenger Jack Della Maddalena (17-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) meet in the main event in Muhammad’s first attempted title defense. Muhammad was first to the scale and was 170 on the nose. Della Maddalena was two behind him and also 170.
In the co-feature, women’s flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko (24-4-1 MMA, 13-3-1 UFC) starts her second reign as titleholder against challenger Manon Fiorot (12-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC). Shevchenko was a pound under the title limit at 124, while Fiorot was 125.
About 30 minutes into the official weigh-ins, former featherweight champion Jose Aldo (32-9 MMA, 14-8 UFC) came to the scale, and it was announced his bantamweight bout against Aiemann Zahabi (12-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) had been shifted to 145 pounds. Aldo then stepped on the scale and looked like he was struggling at 143 pounds. Zahabi flexed when he came to the scale seconds later and was 142.
The early weigh-ins took place at the UFC host hotel in Montreal and preceded the ceremonial weigh-ins for the fans, which take place at 5 p.m. ET at Bell Centre. The same venue hosts Saturday’s event (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+).
