UFC fighter Colby Covington isn’t afraid to share his unfiltered thoughts, that’s for sure.
Covington has voiced his support for President Donald Trump countless times over the past four years. In fact, he made a bold claim about Trump prior to his championship bout with Leon Edwards at UFC 296 in 2023.

“President Trump will be in the crowd, front row, and he’s going to put that belt around my waist–then I’m going to put the belt around his waist because he’s the champ of the people and the greatest president in American history,” Covington said, via The Takedown on SI. “He’s done so much for this country–he had peace in the Middle East, kept our borders secure, inflation was low, gas was low. He’s going to come back in 2024 and make this country great again.”
Even though Covington hasn’t changed his stance on Trump, his days of talking about American politics are over.

At least that’s what Covington said during this Tuesday’s episode of the “Bloody Elbow” podcast.

“I think in the future, you won’t see me campaign. You won’t see me actively involved in politics. I don’t want to be it. I think it’s a dirty game. I think that loyalty is never rewarded. And yeah, I don’t really want to be a part of it anymore,” Covington said, via Mediaite.
“My dream before was like, I want to be the governor of Florida. I want to be a senator. I want to be a congressman. Now I’m like, no, I just want to do business with real American beer; I want to be in RAF; and I just want to mind my own business in peace. I don’t want to be in that dirty game.”

Covington is furious with the UFC.
Back in the fall, Covington made it known that he wants to be included on the card for the UFC’s event on the White House grounds.
Unfortunately for Covington, he won’t get the opportunity to compete in front of Trump.
“I asked for anybody,” Covington said. “I said I’d fight anybody on God’s green earth on the White House card just to get that opportunity to fight in front of my hero, Donald Trump, and all the great politicians that I’m friends with up in D.C. It’s just unfortunate, but, you know, I don’t make the decisions. That’s up to UFC. It’s up to [UFC chief business officer] Hunter Campbell.”

The UFC’s event at the White House will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between Justin Gaethje and Ilia Topuria. That bout is set for June 14.
