Madelyn Blazo led the University of Wyoming women’s cross-country team to a third-place team finish, while Solomon Holden-Betts paced the Cowboys to fifth at the Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners Invitational on Saturday in Denver.
Blazo finished the 6-kilometer race in 10th in 22 minutes, 46.88 seconds.
Holden-Betts earned seventh in the 8-kilometer race in 25:30.52.
The Cowboys’ 128 points were 113 behind champions Colorado. The Buffaloes finished with a perfect score.
The Cowgirls’ 76 points were 61 behind Colorado’s perfect score.
Zak Ferguson helped the Cowboys by finishing eighth in 25:33.56. Tanner Brown (26:42.73) finished 40th, Nolan Hoffman placed 64th in 27:41.81, and Eli Jarvis completed the Cowboys’ team scoring at 67th in 27:51.07.
Nadhia Campos (23:15.33) and Sophia Gonzales (23:18.74) supported the Cowgirls in 17th and 18th, respectively.
Megan Doherty (23:29.47) and Lauren Clarke (23:33.00) finished 22nd and 23rd, respectively.
UW competes Friday at Missouri’s Gans Creek Classic.
