Political Identity and Voting Patterns

As we analyze the long-term U.S. election trends, early indicators for the 2028 Presidential Election suggest a significant lean in the electoral map. Our findings, rooted in our deep expertise in public opinion polling, reveal that among decided voters, 52% intend to support the Democratic candidate, while 42% favor the Republican candidate. This data reflects a growing divide in political identity, compared with our previous polling report that also explored whether respondents maintain their previous voting patterns from the 2024 election cycle.

Perception and Approval of Trump

Public opinion regarding leadership remains a cornerstone of U.S. politics. The survey measured the approval of Donald Trump’s job performance, capturing the polarized sentiment of the American public; the data indicates that 45% of respondents approve of his performance as President. Additionally, the data explores the depth of the MAGA movement, identifying that 38% of the population continues to identify as a supporter of the movement, highlighting its ongoing impact on the Republican platform and broader political landscape.

US-Canada Economic Relationship

In the realm of international U.S. politics, the relationship with northern neighbors is under close scrutiny. While 15% of Americans describe Canada as a “close ally” within the economic relationship, the nuances of trade negotiations reveal a complex trust dynamic. Currently, 57% of respondents express trust in Canada’s good-faith efforts during trade tensions. Conversely, trust in the U.S. administration’s own negotiation efforts is strained, with 44% of Americans indicating a lack of trust in current negotiation strategies.
