He said they’ve used the SBA and other local companies to build their business into what it’s become – which is more than a door hardware manufacturer.
“It’s really about security and life safety,” Richins said. “Where most people see a door and hardware (company), we see a barrier between danger and keeping people safe.”
Richins said they’re produce about 15,000 commercial metal doors and 20,000 doors that appear to be wood, but include fire, smoke and bullet-resistant features inside.
He said SBA programs have helped give Beacon stability in times of uncertainty.
As the winner of the state award in 2026, Richins said he’s been invited to Washington, DC in May to learn the winner of the national award.
“It’s a tremendous honor to represent businesses here in Salt Lake City and in Utah,” he said. “This award is a reflection of the people around me. It really is our employees, our customers and our partners. I’m just thrilled to be accepting an award like this on their behalf.”
