This may not come as a surprise, as gambling in the state isn’t allowed. WalletHub still took recreational and social gamblers into account.
The gambling industry made a record $78.7 billion in revenue last year. However, people in the U.S. lose over $100 billion per year.
Two states at the top of the list border Utah. Montana is the third most gambling-addicted state, according to WalletHub, and Nevada – home to the Entertainment Capital of the World, Las Vegas – tops that list.
Utah gained special recognition by analysts as a state with some of the fewest gambling-related arrests and the lowest lottery sales.
Gambling is costly to wallets and to mental health. WalletHub adds that gambling addiction affects one to three percent of U.S. adults.
