LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Governor Joe Lombardo is receiving an endorsement from the Vegas Chamber in his bid for re-election as Nevada governor.

The chamber referenced Governor Lombardo’s pragmatic governance and his record of promoting policies to help Nevada businesses.

The Vegas Chamber claims that during his first term, the governor collaborated with legislators and the business community to improve Nevada’s business climate, increase public safety, and foster economic development initiatives.

The chamber also mentions his efforts to reduce regulatory burdens on small businesses by eliminating hundreds of regulations and streamlining processes, which it said had previously impeded growth.

In addition, the chamber said Lombardo advanced legislative measures intended to strengthen public safety and increase transparency and accountability in Nevada’s K-12 education system.

“Governor Lombardo has demonstrated a commonsense approach to addressing the challenges and opportunities impacting our state. He has found practical and collaborative ways to solve problems, improve education, and create a pro-business environment that makes it easier to operate a business and create jobs,” said Government Affairs Committee Chairman Hugh Anderson. “The Vegas Chamber believes Governor Lombardo has earned a second term leading our state.”

The Vegas Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee says it makes endorsement decisions on behalf of the organization. The committee has 29 members representing a range of industries and employers, and candidates are evaluated based on policy positions, knowledge of business issues, and priorities for the state and region.

The chamber said the committee’s recommendation was approved at its April meeting.

Governor Lombardo sent out a statement regarding this endorsement. It reads:

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Vegas Chamber. Southern Nevada’s business community is essential to our state’s success, and I’m grateful for their support of our campaign. My administration has worked to support pro-business policies, reduce taxes, generate unprecedented private economic investment, and create good-paying jobs for Nevadans across the state. We have made meaningful progress in building a stronger economy, and I look forward our continued work with our trusted economic partners, like the Vegas Chamber.”

The chamber said it will announce additional endorsements for the Primary Election in the coming days, including races for the Nevada Legislature, boards of education, and local government.
