W Las Vegas announced Thursday the reopening of Skyfall Rooftop Bar & Lounge, which occupies the hotel’s 64th-floor, and the debut of Living Room, a lobby lounge.

Design firm Rockwell Group created the interiors for both venues, the hotel said.

Skyfall’s new cocktail menu includes the Mojave Muse, made with butterfly pea flower, makrut lime and a violet-infused gin float; the Dirty Little Secret, a martini with olive brine and hand-stuffed blue cheese olives; and the Skyline Spritz, a Grey Goose vodka drink with strawberry-lychee cordial and lemon juice.

Living Room, next to the hotel’s arrival lobby, serves garden-inspired cocktails and mocktails, including drinks called Raspberry, Rose and Ube.

“Together, these concepts deliver a seamless day-to-night social destination,” said Zoey D’Arienzo, vice president of food and beverage for Mandalay Bay and W Las Vegas.

Skyfall is open from 5 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. DJs perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursdays and from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Living Room is open from 2 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Reservations for Skyfall are available through the hotel’s website, https://wlasvegas.mgmresorts.com/en.html.

WestCorp opens Continuum community in southwest Las Vegas

WestCorp Management Group announced Thursday that it opened Continuum, a residential community at 7040 Blue Diamond Road in southwest Las Vegas. Leasing is open.

The community offers one-, two- and three-bedroom residences and an adjacent Retail Village. A business center, a library and quiet retreat spaces also are on site.

An outdoor game park has a pickleball court, ping-pong, foosball, cornhole, four square, tetherball and lawn games. For pets, the community has a dog park, a pet agility area and a pet wash center.

“From resort-inspired spaces and opportunities to stay active to thoughtful amenities for residents and their pets, every detail is intended to make daily living feel more comfortable, engaging and connected,” said Jed Weidauer, vice president of business development for WestCorp.

Prospective residents can schedule visits and view available residences at continuumlv.com.

Hoover Dam rafting tours join Boulder City center

Hoover Dam Rafting Adventures has debuted at the Travel Nevada Adventure Center, an outdoor recreation hub that celebrated its grand opening Oct. 7 in Boulder City, the company announced.

Lake Mead Mohave Adventures operates the tours, which travel the Black Canyon National Water Trail on the Colorado River in motor-assisted inflatable rafts and offer views of Hoover Dam. Guides describe the canyon’s geology and point out plants, desert bighorn sheep and birds such as osprey and great blue herons.

“Seeing the Hoover Dam—an absolute marvel of engineering—from this vantage point is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many of our visitors,” said Lisa Duncan, senior director of operations for Lake Mead Mohave Adventures.

Investment firm touts Morningstar 5-star ratings

Winans Investments, a Las Vegas investment manager, said in a news release that three of its asset allocation portfolios had earned five-star ratings from research firm Morningstar across three-, five- and 10-year periods simultaneously.

The firm said Morningstar lists more than 11,000 portfolios run by advisers as separately managed accounts, and only the top 10% receive five stars. Fewer than 335 earn five stars across all three periods at once, the firm said. It said it was the only investment firm based in Las Vegas to receive five-star Morningstar ratings.

“This is an achievement rare in the world of investment management,” said Ken Winans, the firm’s president and chief investment officer.

According to the release, Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley recognized the firm with a certificate that read in part, “The firm’s success also reinforces Las Vegas’ growing reputation as an emerging center of financial services, innovation and professional leadership.”

Oksana Baiul, ‘Sexxy’ cast cap Hofbräuhaus Oktoberfest

Olympic gold medalist Oksana Baiul will tap a keg at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas, 4510 Paradise Road. The cast of “Sexxy The Show” will do the same at 7 p.m. Saturday in a Halloween keg tapping that ends the beer hall’s 22nd annual Oktoberfest.

Baiul won the 1993 world championship and the 1994 Olympic gold medal in women’s figure skating. “Sexxy” is a Las Vegas burlesque show that dates to 2015.

Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas’ Oktoberfest began Sept. 11. A celebrity taps the keg every Friday and Saturday night during the event, which features daily specials, stein-holding contests, live entertainment, bar games, prizes and dancing in the aisles.

For reservations, call 702-853-BEER (2337) or visit hofbrauhauslasvegas.com.

Las Vegas slot maker introduces sound-powered casino tech

Las Vegas-based gaming company Bluberi has launched a new casino technology designed to make wins harder to miss on crowded casino floors.

The system, called Beacon+ SoundWave, combines audio and synchronized LED lighting across banks of slot machines. Rather than relying just on visuals, the setup uses distinctive audio cues — called “Wintones” — to punctuate bonus events and jackpots, helping winning moments stand out against background casino noise.

Bluberi games such as “Devil’s Lock” and “Smokin’ Train” are on slot floors at Las Vegas casinos, including the Plaza downtown and resorts on the Strip.

The SoundWave system launches with three games — “Reign of the Panther,” “Ashes to Riches” and “Imperial Lock” — and will be compatible with all future core Bluberi games.
