Waymo LLC has opened its first office space in Tempe as the self-driving car company expands in the Phoenix metro.
The subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. signed a 40,357-square-foot sublease early in the year at the Grand2 building at 1033 W. Roosevelt Way, according to Newmark’s Phoenix Q1 2026 office report.
The company confirmed May 13 that it had opened an office in the Valley.
“The Valley is where Waymo first launched its fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and the community here has been foundational to our growth over the last decade,” said a Waymo representative in a statement to the Business Journal. “Opening our first dedicated office space in Phoenix is a natural next step — it deepens our investment in the region and allows us to continue building on the thousand jobs we’ve proudly created here.”
Waymo opened its office space in March but declined to specify how many employees operate out of it. However, the company indicated the office location offers room to grow in the Valley.
