Grocery stores across the Phoenix area will operate on adjusted hours for Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 27, but shoppers will still have plenty of time for last-minute runs.

Major chains including Fry’s Food Stores, Bashas’ and Safeway will open early and close in the afternoon, while others such as Whole Foods and AJ’s Fine Foods will shut their doors even earlier.

Several stores will remain closed for the holiday. Here’s a look at which grocery stores are open.

Which Arizona grocery stores are open on Thanksgiving 2025?

Major grocery chains will be open, but on shortened schedules. Here are the stores that will operate on reduced hours on Thanksgiving Day:

  • Fry’s Food Stores will open at regular hours and close at 5 p.m., a company spokesperson said.
  • Safeway and Albertsons will be open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • WinCo Foods will close at 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and reopen at 7 a.m. Nov. 28. WinCo is the only 24-hour grocery store in the Phoenix area.
  • Whole Foods Market stores will open at 7 a.m. and close at 1 p.m.,
  • AJ’s Fine Foods stores will open at 6 a.m. and close at 2 p.m.
  • Bashas’ will be open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Food City is open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to store managers.

Most store pharmacies, such as Fry’s Food Store, will also be closed.

Which stores are closed on Thanksgiving?

  • Walmart, Target, and Aldi stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, according to the respective company websites.
  • Trader Joe’s locations will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27, so employees can spend the holiday with family and friends, according to a company news release.
