Our big heat wave continues on this Sunday, but we’re almost at the end of it now.

After back-to-back days near or at 100°, we’ve got one more scorcher ahead for this Sunday before we see some gradual relief return for Monday and much more meaningful relief by Tuesday.

Still, highs on Sunday will likely top out around 101 degrees in Denver, which should either tie or break our long-standing daily record of 100° set way back in 1878. A Heat Advisory is in place for basically all of eastern Colorado from 10 a.m. on Sunday through 8 p.m. Highs could top 105° in a few hot spots on the Eastern Plains.

The difference between today and both Friday and Saturday is that we’ll have fairly widespread afternoon gusty storms today. In the Denver area, we’ll only have a chance for some lightning and a quick burst of wind, but the mountains could see a much better chance for those storms.

We push in some gradual relief starting on Monday, with more widespread afternoon gusty storms. A meaningful cold front arrives on Tuesday morning, and that’ll lead to showers and storms and hopefully a good soaking rainfall. We need it across most of the state!

Temperatures hover around our seasonal averages for the rest of the week with daily shower and storm chances, and Wednesday could feature notably ‘cool’ temperatures with highs only in the low-to-mid 80s!

So if you’re tired of the excessive heat, you’ve got one more day of it before things start to improve on Monday. Stay cool, Colorado!

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny and dangerously hot with gusty afternoon showers and storms, high 101; mostly cloudy and warm overnight, low 68.

MONDAY: Partly cloudy and slightly less hot, with late-day storm chances, high 97; mostly cloudy overnight, low 66.

TUESDAY: Partly cloudy and seasonal with late-day storm chances, high 90; mostly cloudy overnight, low 68.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny and mild with late-day storm chances, high 83; mostly cloudy overnight, low 63.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny and mild with late-day storm chances, high 86; partly cloudy overnight, low 61.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny and seasonal with late-day storm chances, high 89; mostly cloudy overnight, low 60.

SATURDAY: Partly cloudy and seasonal with isolated afternoon storms, high 88; partly cloudy overnight, low 61.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny and dangerously hot with a few afternoon storms high 87; partly cloudy and warm overnight, low 62.
