What started in 2023 as a dream to bring affordable fun and a destination for true putting to New Braunfels has grown into a Hill Country hangout where visitors can play a round, take in the views and make memories with friends and family.
Now, Sip N Putt is leaving the place where it all began.
The popular mini golf destination will close its original location in December before reopening at a new location in February 2027, the business confirmed to MySA. The move was prompted by increasing rent at the current location, Sip N Putt said.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support our community has shown us over the past three and a half years,” Sip N Putt tells MySA via email. “Everyone who has come out to enjoy the views, play a round, and make memories with us has helped make this next chapter possible.”
While the original location is closing, the business plans to carry its signature 18-hole putting experience into its next chapter, with additional golf-related activities, food and beverages planned for the new location.
Sip N Putt’s original course was designed around the natural elevation of the property, with beginner, intermediate and championship levels. Owner Bret Shallenberger previously told MySA that the concept was inspired in part by the realistic putting experience popularized by PopStroke and Tiger Woods.
“There wasn’t a big company or a big budget behind it,” the business wrote in social media post announcing the move. “There was an idea, a lot of hard work, and a belief that we could build something special for the Hill Country community.”
Over the past three and a half years, Sip N Putt has grown beyond its putting greens, becoming a destination where customers can enjoy Hill Country views, drinks and time with friends and family.
Now, the business is taking that concept into a new home.
“While moving an entire venue certainly isn’t easy, we love what Sip N Putt has become for the Hill Country, and we’re not ready to stop now,” the business said via email to MySA.
The popular mini golf destination will close its original location at 7420 I-35 N. Frontage Road in December before reopening at 225 Watson Lane W. in February 2027, the business confirmed to MySA.
For now, the original course remains open.
Sip N Putt is open from 5 p.m. to midnight Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday and noon to 11 p.m. Sunday.
