Whether you need to run errands, grab a quick bite, or pick up last-minute items, here’s a guide to what’s open and closed around Houston on July 4th, 2025.

Government offices & schools

Most government offices and public schools will be closed in observance of the federal holiday. This includes all non-essential federal services, local city offices, post offices, and courts.

Retail stores

A variety of retail stores will operate with adjusted hours for Independence Day. Here’s what to expect:

• 7-Eleven: Store hours vary by location. Check locally for times.

• CVS: Most locations open with regular hours, but pharmacy hours may differ.

• Dollar General: Operating with normal hours.

• Best Buy: Open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at most locations.
