Brewers manager Pat Murphy pleased with the opening day performance
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy talks about the team’s 14-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
The Milwaukee Brewers had as good of a start to the 2026 season as possible with a resounding 14-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday, March 26.
But the three-time reigning NL Central Division champions will have to wait another day before getting back out onto the field for Game 2 of 162.
The teams have a day off on Friday, March 27, before the series continues on the weekend.
Here’s what to know about the Brewers schedule, their next game and where to watch the series:
Do the Brewers play today?
No, the Brewers don’t play on Friday, March 27. The three-game series doesn’t resume until Saturday, March 28.
What time is the next Brewers game?
- Time: 6:10 p.m.
- Date: Saturday, March 28
- Location: American Family Field
First pitch of Game 2 of the Brewers-White Sox series is 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at American Family Field.
Why don’t the Brewers play today?
MLB builds in a day off after Opening Day in the event of a rainout. While that isn’t a problem for the Brewers for their home openers with the American Family Field roof, MLB keeps it uniform across the league.
Brewers probable pitchers
Jacob Misiorowski set an Opening Day franchise record 11 strikeouts in his five-inning gem as he silenced the White Sox’s bats after a leadoff home run.
Who will take the mound next?
Returning pitcher Chad Patrick starts on Saturday, March 28, while newcomer Brandon Sproat gets the ball for the first time as a Brewer to close out the series on Sunday, March 29.
In 27 games last season as a rookie, including 23 starts, Patrick was 3-8 with a 3.53 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 119⅔ innings. He struck out 127 and walked 40.
The 27-year-old was one of the stars of the Game 5 series-clinching win of the National League Division Series last year against the Chicago Cubs out of the bullpen.
The Brewers acquired Sproat from the New York Mets in the Freddy Peralta trade in the offseason. The 25-year-old spent the majority of last season in the minor leagues, pitching in only four games at the big-league level.
