New for 2026, the NBA All-Star Game has a new tournament-style format with all all-star players split up into three teams: USA Stars, USA Stripes and World. Each player on the winning team gets an $125,000 bonus, while the best player gets the bonus and the NBA All-Star Game Kobe Bryant MVP Award. Learn more about the new NBA All-Star Game format here.

NBA All-Star Weekend has been on a decline for years, while the league tries to come up with new ways to spice things up to keep players and fans engaged with the event. Although USA vs. The World is a good start, the new format is too confusing for general fans.

However, seeing the best that the United States can offer go up against the best the rest of the world has is a good step in the right direction. If the NBA introduces a straight up USA vs. The World game without the tournament element, then you’d see something special with more interest from fans and general audiences, alike.

The NBA All-Star Game 2026 broadcasts live starting at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT. Coverage begins at 4:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. PT on NBC. The best way to watch the game online without cable is with DirecTV.
