Hurricanes vs. Canadiens: The matchup
While the Hurricanes were making short work of the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers, both of whom they swept to advance to the East Finals, the Canadiens dueled with the Sabres until the bitter end of a seven-game series that ended with a 3-2 overtime victory in Monday night’s Game 7. Montreal also went to seven games in the first round against the Tampa Bay Lightning and wrapped that series with a 2-1 win on the road in Game 7. The quick math shows the Canadiens playing 14 games, five of which went into overtime, to eight for the Hurricanes, who also haven’t played since May 9.
