MLS team LAFC welcome soccer legend Son Heung-min the club
Tottenham legend Son Heung-min is the latest highest profile signings in LAFC’s history following the footsteps of Carlos Vela, Gareth Bale and Olivier Giroud into the Hollywood spotlight.
Inter Miami will face Charlotte FC on Saturday night without star striker Luis Suárez.
Suárez will be serving the first of a three-game MLS suspension for a spitting incident in last month’s Leagues Cup final against the Seattle Sounders.
After the final whistle sounded in Seattle’s 3-0 win, Suárez appeared to spit on Seattle Sounders security director Gene Ramirez.
The Uruguayan was suspended six games by the Leagues Cup last week, and MLS opted to add an additional punishment on top of that ban.
Suárez will also miss a Sept. 16 rematch against the Sounders and a Sept. 20 game against D.C. United before he is eligible to return.
“Regarding the suspension, obviously, we accept the decision made by MLS. Obviously, the club has already publicly agreed with that decision,” Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano told the media Friday.
“Luis has also publicly expressed his agreement with the team. We discussed what we had to discuss privately, and well, I think we’ve finally put some closure on that issue, even though clearly none of us liked how the game against Seattle ended and everything that ensued.”
Suárez has six goals and 10 assists in 22 league appearances for the Herons this season. His contract expires at the end of the 2025 season, so the veteran could be entering his final months as an Inter Miami player.
Inter Miami enters Saturday’s game sixth place in the Eastern Conference table with 46 points in 25 games. Charlotte is in third place with 50 points, but has played four more matches than the Herons.
