San Antonio artists eligible for $7,500 and $15,000 grants to fund new creations.
SAN ANTONIO (January 7, 2025) — The City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture has opened the Intent to Apply window for its fiscal year 2026 Artist Grants. San Antonio-based artists may apply for funding in $7,500 and $15,000 tiers to support creating new work. Offered annually, Artists Grants are available to individual artists and those working in collaborations, collectives and ensembles. Applicants must submit an Intent to Apply by February 7, 2025 to gain access to the full grant application (open January 13 – February 21, 2025).
Established in 2022, the program aims to support a diverse portfolio of artists across San Antonio. Grants are for producing new, original and high-quality art to be presented in the city. Artists of all disciplines, including Literary Arts, Media Arts, Multi-Disciplinary, Performing Arts and Visual Arts are encouraged to apply.
“Artist grants are fantastic opportunities for artists at all stages of their careers,” said Department of Arts & Culture Director Krystal Jones. “Whether you are a first-time or returning applicant, we welcome the opportunity to connect with you.”
Artists who submit an Intent to Apply and who meet the program’s eligibility criteria will then have access to the full application that opens on January 13. Timeline:
- Now – February 7: Intent to Apply window
- January 13 – February 21: Application window
- March – April: Application panel review
- June: Notify applicants of funding recommendations
- June 26: Funding recommendations reviewed by Arts Funding Committee and San Antonio Arts Commission
- September: City Council vote on budget recommendations
- October: Contracts and funding awarded to grantees
