Syracuse, N.Y. – A jackpot-winning ticket for the New York Lotto worth $17 million was sold in Syracuse.
The ticket for Wednesday’s drawing was sold at Polge Wine and Liquors, 434 West Seneca Turnpike, the lottery said Thursday morning.
Store owner Tim Polge said he doesn’t know who the winner is, but that the winner bought the ticket at around 3:32 p.m. Wednesday.
He said people have already been reaching out to try to find out who won.
“People are calling, people are texting,” he said.
Customers were asking who the winner was as they walked up to the store’s register Thursday morning.
The winning ticketholder can collect their money in either a lump sum payment of $8,863,644 or in 26 annuity payments over 25 years that will total to $17 million, according to New York State Gaming Commission spokesperson Brad Maione.
The lump sum payment comes with a state tax withholding of $966,137, while the annuity payments would have $1,853,000 total withheld in state taxes, according to Maione.
The ticket’s winning numbers were 6-8-22-29-37-50 with a Bonus Number 11.
In order to win the Lotto game, a player’s ticket must match six numbers between 1 and 59.
The odds of winning the Lotto jackpot are 1 in 45,057,474, according Maione.
