Giannis Antetokounmpo speaks on ‘must win’ heading to game in Dallas

Giannis Antetokounmpo speaks on ‘must win’ upcoming game in Dallas and Rivers, Kuzma react to the Bucks’ loss to Rockets on Nov. 9, 2025.

The Wisconsin Herd, the G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, acquired the rights to former NBA all-star Victor Oladipo on Nov. 9.

In a series of transactions that day, Oladipo left the Guangzhou Loong Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association to sign a G League player pool contract. He was then claimed by the Santa Cruz Warriors (Golden State’s affiliate), and then immediately traded to the Herd. In order to make room for Oladipo on the roster, the Herd waived Onno Steger.

Oladipo played in two exhibition games for the Lions against the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs, and participated in workouts for NBA teams in Las Vegas in July.

The 33-year-old shooting guard is hoping to make an NBA comeback after suffering several leg injuries, including a ruptured patellar tendon while playing against the Bucks for the Miami Heat in the 2023 playoffs. That was the last time Oladipo had been on an NBA court.

Selected No. 2 in the 2013 NBA draft by Orlando out of Indiana University, Oladipo quickly established himself as a scoring threat with the Magic and Oklahoma City Thunder in his first four seasons before blossoming with the Indiana Pacers.

In the 2017-18 season he averaged 23.1 points per game and led the league in steals with 2.3 per game and made his first all-star team. He also was the league’s Most Improved Player that season. He followed that with another all-star campaign while averaging 18.8 points in 36 games in 2018-19, but he ruptured a quadriceps before being able to participate in the annual exhibition.

For the next four seasons Oladipo never played in more than 42 games for Indiana, Houston and Miami as he continually battled injuries and worked through rehab.

The Bucks have 15 players on guaranteed contracts, the maximum allowed. Should they choose to sign Oladipo to a guaranteed deal, they would have to waive a player.
