CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina women’s lacrosse program has earned the No. 2 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, the selection committee announced on Sunday night. The Tar Heels, who have been ranked as the No. 1 team in the country for a vast majority of the season, enter the tournament 16-1, having won both the ACC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. This is the 21st straight season and the 27th time in the program’s 31-year history that UNC has heard its name called on Selection Sunday.

Carolina will host the first and second rounds at Dorrance Field this weekend. The first-round game between Clemson and Davidson will be played on Friday, May 8 at 5 p.m. The winner of that game will face the Tar Heels on Sunday at noon in a second-round match-up. If the Tar Heels were to advance, they would host the quarterfinal round at Dorrance Field on Thursday, May 14.

Overall, the Tar Heels are 46-22 in NCAA Tournament games. Head coach Jenny Levy‘s 46 NCAA wins are the second-most in women’s lacrosse history.

Carolina has made 14 trips to the semifinals – including 11 of the last 16 tournaments – which is tied for third all-time. The program has appeared in six NCAA title games and won four times, most recently last year’s undefeated season.

Tickets for the first and second round will go on sale Monday, May 4 at 10 a.m. Parking for both games this weekend will be available in the Raleigh Road Visitors Lot, and Bell Tower Deck/Stadium Drive after 5 p.m. ADA Parking is available in the School of Government Deck. Fans are encouraged to stay away from Ridge Road Corridor and Manning Drive.

Stay up to date with UNC women’s lacrosse by following the Tar Heels on Twitter, Instagram  and Facebook.
