SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police officer who was shot while responding to a domestic disturbance call on the city’s Northside is now recovering after surgery.

The San Antonio Police Department released a statement saying, “The officer injured is in the hospital, awaiting further medical care. The officer is in good spirits but has a long road to recovery ahead of her. We will provide more updates soon. Thank you for the kind words and prayers for our injured officer.”
The officer was shot on Sunday, July 28, after police received a domestic disturbance call in the 1300 block of Patricia Drive. Officers arrived to find a female victim who had been assaulted by her boyfriend.
McManus says when officers entered the suspect’s apartment, he was found in bed with a rifle by his side. The suspect opened fire on officers, striking the officer multiple times.
The wounded officer was transported to a local hospital for surgery and is currently recovering.
