Wright Close & Barger Announces Move to TC Energy Center in Downtown Houston

Noted appellate and trial firm set to move closer to federal and state courthouses

The Houston-based civil appellate and trial law firm Wright Close & Barger, LLP, has announced its planned move to the iconic downtown TC Energy Center and near the federal and state courthouses.

“When we started this firm in 2002 and moved to the Galleria area, this firm’s profile, like that of the Texas legal landscape, looked quite different than it does in 2025,” said firm founder Tom Wright.

With almost 50 attorneys, including a dozen board-certified appellate lawyers, 20 former state and federal law clerks and two former appellate justices, WCB boasts the largest appellate section in Texas.

Spanning 41,000 square feet across two floors of the 56-story commercial tower previously known as the Bank of America Center, the new office space, located at 700 Louisiana, is more than 60% larger than the firm’s current location.

The move will accommodate WCB’s growing team and collaborative efforts, advancing its commitment to both appellate and trial excellence within a dynamic, client-focused environment. The firm is currently on three floors. The move will bring everyone together on adjoining floors connected by internal stairs.

“We have found success by anticipating and adapting to change. That has served our clients well. It has also fueled our physical growth, which necessitated this change of venue,” said Jessica Barger.

Howard Close added, “We are excited by the new space and in joining the vibrant downtown community. This will put us in closer proximity to the courthouses where we regularly appear and to other law firms and venues.”

The move is expected to be completed by the spring of 2026.
