World Trade Center Utah announced Friday it would be appointing Nate Callister, president and CEO of Zions Bank, to its board of directors.
In a statement sent to the Deseret News, WTC said Zions Bank has been a crucial partner for trade finance, risk-management solutions and banking infrastructure which has helped Utah businesses grow from local successes to global operations.
Callister, who also serves as an executive vice president of Zions Bancorporation, brings more than 25 years of commercial banking leadership experience, which includes his time as head of commercial and corporate banking at Zions.
“Nate brings deep experience in banking and community leadership, and a strong understanding of the role global trade plays in Utah’s economy,” Jonathan Freedman, president and CEO of WTC Utah, said in a statement. “We look forward to working alongside him and continuing our partnership with Zions Bank to expand opportunities for Utah businesses.”
The current chair of WTC Utah’s board is Jeff Flake, former U.S. senator representing Arizona and former U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Türkiye.
WTC Utah said its vision is “to make Utah the crossroads of the world, one business at a time,” by utilizing the leadership of its board to support international opportunities for companies statewide.
“I am honored to join the WTC Utah board of directors,” Callister said in a statement. “Zions Bank has always valued our partnership with WTC Utah, as we are both dedicated to building community and fostering a robust economy through global connectivity.”
He added, “I am eager to support the continued success of Utah’s international business community.”
On May 6 and 7, WTC Utah will co-host the Zions Bank Crossroads of the World International Trade Summit in Salt Lake City. The two-day conference brings international business and diplomatic leaders together to discuss the trends shaping global commerce, according to the statement shared with the Deseret News.
Zions Bank was founded in Utah in 1873 with its headquarters in Salt Lake City. WTC Utah shared in a statement the bank is “a vital partner in global business development and community initiatives.”
