HOUSTON – A 92-year-old Houston resident has spent the last four years living in an RV while waiting for her home to be completed, despite paying the builder nearly $200,000 for what was supposed to be a one-year project.
Naomi Brazle, who resides on Winton Street in Houston’s South Side, says the construction project has stretched far beyond its original timeline.
“No more than six months, a year,” Brazle said, describing the initial timeframe she was given for the project’s completion. The financial commitment to the project has been substantial. My son had already given the man over $121,000 or more,” Brazle explained.
She provided an additional $69,000 last year, bringing the total investment to approximately $190,000.
Communication with the builder has been problematic, according to Brazle. “This man doesn’t seem to care,” she said, expressing her frustration with the constant delays. “Just keep on putting off, putting off, putting it off.”
Adding to her concerns, Brazle revealed that the builder had told her daughter he was experiencing financial difficulties.
“I don’t know what he used my money for, but he told my daughter he was broke. He didn’t have any money.”
When contacted about the project delays, the builder acknowledged past issues but expressed optimism about the current status.
“There’s a lot of hiccups on this deal, but I think we’re where we are right now. I’m excited,” he said.
The builder’s representative on site has promised completion by the end of August 2025. KPRC 2 News will continue to monitor the progress of this construction project.
