Fiiz, a Utah-based franchise known for its customizable sodas and specialty drinks, recently opened its doors in the area. Owner Sophia Platt said the idea to bring Fiiz to Aggieland came from a desire to offer something beyond the area’s many coffee options.
“I thought this town needed something other than coffee,” she said at a March 17 ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce.
Platt noted how the concept appeals to a wider range of customers who may not drink coffee or alcohol.
What you need to know
The soda shop is operated locally by Platt, a Texas A&M University graduate, and her parents.
College Station City Council Member William Wright attended the ribbon-cutting to welcome the new business to the area.
“You’ve come back, and now you have a different perspective on the city,” Wright said, referencing Platt’s connection to the community beyond her time as a student.
What Fiiz offers
Fiiz opened in March and allows customers to mix flavors, creams and add-ins to create custom drinks. Platt said the team is also working on a signature drink featuring Dr. Pepper, a Texas favorite.
The business has already seen support from the community. After running out of Dr. Pepper one day, Rosa’s Cafe answered a plea for help and let them have some of their Dr. Pepper.
“It was a little taste of what this community can do,” Platt said.
