UAB Opens Outdoor Season in Atlanta on Friday

ATLANTA – UAB Track & Field opens its outdoor portion of the schedule on Friday and Saturday as the Blazers are set to compete in the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech. Action on Friday is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. central while Saturday’s slate will begin at 11 a.m. central.

THE FIELD

Along with the Blazers competing this weekend, other teams include Auburn, Belmont, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Missouri, Middle Tennessee, and West Georgia.

THIS TIME LAST YEAR

Kat Duren ran in the 100m Hurdles and finished with a time of 14.12, finishing 18th of 72 runners. This time was Duren’s season-best.

Noelle Hambrick and Victoria Freeland represented the Green and Gold in the Pole Vault. Hambrick tied her Outdoor PR with a mark of 3.70, missing her overall PR by .02m. Freeland finished at 3.55m. Gabby Washington made her season debut in the 100m. Washington finished in 12.01 seconds and placed 20th out of 84 runners. Sangie Lincoln-Velez clocked her PR in the 1500m for the second consecutive week as she finished in 4:32.54. Lincoln-Velez’s second PR of the weekend came in the 800m where she finished with a time of 2:13.36. Hope Foster marked her Outdoor season-best in the High Jump finishing at 1.66m. The mark ties her overall PR. Jasmine Dereje placed 8th out of 48 runners in the 400m Hurdles as she finished with a time of 59.54.
