The Badgers-Pioneers meeting is an unexpected storyline and matchup when the four Frozen Four teams headed to Las Vegas, as Wisconsin upset No. 2 North Dakota in the national semifinals on Thursday, and Denver took down top-seeded Michigan in double overtime.
Denver is looking for its third title in the past five seasons, and to avenge its loss to Western Michigan in double overtime from last season. Wisconsin is looking to sweep both NCAA hockey championships, with the Badgers women’s hockey team winning it all a few weeks ago. The Badgers haven’t won it on the men’s side since 2006.
