Not even a month has passed since Bojangles opened its second San Antonio location, but the fried chicken chain is already planning its next business endeavor in the Greater San Antonio area.
Starting next month, Bojangles will start building out its newest chicken joint in Converse. The $1.8 million project will be constructed from the ground up, beginning June 1. Construction is expected to be completed by Dec. 31.
The North Carolina-based chain has gained traction since San Antonians began trading in their chicken on a stick for its fried chicken sandwiches, buttery biscuits and Southern-inspired sides, including pimento cheese, macaroni & cheese and dirty rice. The first San Antonio location opened in August 2023.
That was followed by the April 21 opening of its second location at 3003 SW Military Drive. Construction on that 2,655-square-foot building began in 2025, costing around $4.1 million.
The new location will be built near Randolph Air Force Base, alongside restaurants like Acapulco Express Mexican Restaurant, Lai Sinh Vietnamese Cuisine and Papa Dane’s Italian Restaurant.
The chain, which started in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1977, has more than 850 locations nationwide.
