Arman Tsarukyanâs exciting two-week run kicked off tonight with a first round Tech Fall win over Mugzy in Arlington, Texas.
The top UFC lightweight contender has been named as the official backup fighter for the UFC White House by Dana White. However, there is a clash of schedules as the Armenian is due to face Tony Ferguson at RAF10 the night before.

As a result, he wonât be able to weigh in for the show, and the UFC will have to hope that he is not needed. He expects to return to action in September, but has been remaining active with matches like tonightâs and other grappling contests.

Sporting a cowboy hat and a new nickname of âBatmanâ, Arman Tsarukyan made the walk early in the night for a strange outing given his star power. And he was given a bit of a fright as Mugzy managed to get him down in an exciting opening minute to get the score to 6-5.
However, within the opening two minutes Tsarukyan made it to the legs and scored a Tech Fall victory, with a final score of 16-5 for the Armenian. After the fact, he spoke with Chael Sonnen, where he made his call for one of the later stars of the night; Colby Covington.
âI knew I was going to win, I just have got to give a little bit to these guys,â Tsarukyan boasted after the fact. âShout out to Mugzy, thanks to this guy for coming and sharing the [stage] with me.
âTonight weâve got Colby Covington, I hope heâs going to win and then I can whoop his aâ because number one MMA wrestler is me, and Iâm going to show everybody who is the best MMA wrestler on these mats!
