H-E-B is opening a new store in one of San Antonio’s fastest-growing areas, near Converse on the city’s Far Northeast Side, at the intersection of Loop 1604 and Interstate 10.
In a news release, the grocer said construction is already underway. The 125,000-square-foot store, which is expected to open in late 2026, will include a True Texas BBQ restaurant, a drive-thru pharmacy. It will also include 30 Curbside parking spaces.
The store will also feature other H-E-B favorites like a bakery with handmade artisan breads, cakes and warm tortillas made fresh daily, plus made-to-order sushi, H-E-B Meal Simple chef-prepared meals and an expanded deli with specialty cheeses and charcuterie.
Shoppers will also find a full-service meat and seafood selection, an extensive beer and wine department and Texas Backyard for plants and outdoor living essentials.
The store is expected to employ more than 400 people, according to H-E-B.
The grocer is also opening a new store in San Marcos by the end of the year. MySA recently reported that construction crews have made significant progress on the 114,000-square-foot store along Interstate 35, where the building’s signature front facade is rapidly rising and exterior work has become increasingly visible.
The company recently filed plans with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for that project to build a new bakery production facility, warehouse and distribution center at 711 S. Foster Road on the city’s East Side near China Grove. Construction was slated to begin July 1, according to the filing.
